Attention teachers and students of SSU! Fundraising for the military in the Crimea!
The staff of SSU is deeply concerned about the situation that has arisen as a result of interference in the internal affairs of Ukraine by the Russian Federation. Our position is disclosed in the statement, which is posted on the University website on March 3, 2014 and sent to all our partners in the global scientific and educational space, including Russia.

The meeting of Council of the Heads of SSU Foreign Students National Associations, representing more than 1,400 students from about 50 countries, was held on March, 5 with the participation of the SSU Rector Anatoly Vasylyev. Sumy State University expresses its concern about the present situation in Ukraine
On behalf of Sumy State University we express our deep concern about aggravation of the social situation because of intervention of the Russian Federation in internal affairs of Ukraine.
The position of Sumy State University in this situation is unambiguous. We stand on the vision that Ukraine is a consolidated, united, undivided, sovereign, civilized, prosperous European country.
Sumy region has a state border with Belgorod, Briansk and Kursk regions of the Russian Federation with partially Russian-speaking population. Our university provides an education to around 1400 foreign students from more than 50 countries of the world, including the Russian Federation. They enjoy all rights and freedoms and nothing threatens them here.
Sumy State University has good relationship and professional connections with higher educational institutions from different regions of the Russian Federation, including Moscow and Saint Petersburg. We encourage our partners in the international scientific community, primarily Ukrainian and Russian universities, to express a common position to do our best to resume stability and establish peace and good-neighborly relations.
We are against cleavage of Ukraine in any region and we demand from the Russian Federation not to use their military forces in the present situation.
On behalf of Sumy State University
Rector A. Vasylyev
Head of Staff Trade Union of SSU V. Borovyk
Student Rector, Head of Student Self-government M. Oprysko
Head of Student Trade Union H. Yakovleva
