The volunteers of SSU Social Service started a great tradition: every week they visit Sumy social rehabilitation center ‘Zlahoda’ for people with disabilities. SSU volunteers and ‘Zlahoda’ students do special morning exercises, developed together with the teachers of SSU Medical Institute.

In addition to physical exercises, the volunteers (future doctors) help these people to adapt to the modern world. They communicate with the students, conduct workshops, play games, organized competitions, and help to create unique post cards. On April 25th, before Easter holidays, the volunteers taught them to make post cards, and helped to write greetings and wishes.

According to the Head of Student Social Service Alina Storozhenko, people with Down syndrome are very honest and sincere. They are full of desire to communicate, learn and do something with their hands. When the volunteers work with ‘Zlahoda’ students, the volunteers understand that they become better and brighter.
