Sportsmen students of the Medical Institute of SumDU Kyrylo Samotuh, Artem Khomula, Anastasiia Antipina and Andrii Toroshanko (graduate of the Kyiv College of Communication that successfully passed entrance exam to SumDU Master’s degree programme) together with Ukrainian team took part in prestigious student competition – First European Universities Combat Games that took place in Zagreb (Croatia) from July 30th to August 3rd.

Artem Khomula got the gold medal in the weight category up to 73 kg having conquered sportsmen from Ukraine, Switzerland, Poland and France on his way to the finals. In the final fight Artem met the experienced judoka from France Aleksandr Rubiano, but he completed this challenge with confidence.

Kyrylo Samotuh won the silver award in the weight category up to 60 kg. He conquered sportsmen from Serbia and Great Britain.

Anastasiia Antipina in the weight category up to 63 kg defeated opponents from the Netherlands, Spain and Portugal and got the bronze award.

The final stage of our sportsmen success was the performance of the master’s student Andrii Toroshanko in karate (weight category up to 84 kg) that got the gold medal in the team competition, and in individual competition won the bronze award.

Overall the competition was attended by 1300 participants that presented 404 universities from 36 European countries.
